- Cultured butter- The cream is left for a few days before it is churned into butter. The time the cream is kept, it starts to ferment. That is why its name is cultured butter.

- Homemade butter– is a simple butter recipe that people use to make butter at home. One needs to churn the cream of milk in a mixer, and within a few minutes, butter is ready.
- Clarified butter- when the cream is heated, water evaporates and leave behind only milk solids, and the butter starts floating on the surface. It contains very less water and only butterfat.
What Is Fancy Butter?
The other name of European butter is fancy butter. European butter is made by culturing the cream using bacteria. It contains more fat and very less water. It also has a tangy taste that is very close to the feeling of cheese. Therefore some people replace the regular butter with fancy butter to get that tangy taste.
Is Fancy Butter Better Than Regular Butter?
Many people use it instead of regular butter. But the desired result may not be the same. If one makes a cookie using fancy butter, it will either not hold shape or taste greasy. It may also turn out to be more dense and solid. It will not be crumby also. Such type of butter may make the pie crust crispier but shall be less flakey. Cakes, like a simple brownie, can also turn out to be denser than expected. One can also feel that the taste of European butter also gets lost in the baking process. Therefore one can use it either on top of toasted bread or for frosting the laminated dough.
